You can move one or more cards from a project to another directly from a project’s Cards tab. Each moved card receives a new number in the destination project. This page does not cover moving a card from one step to another in the operations board or the schedule.
Move cards #
Note: it is impossible to move the cards of a Template project.
Note: when you move a parent card, its child cards are moved with it. A Sales order card cannot be moved when it has a parent card or child cards: see the Move sales order cards section below.
- From the menu on the left, choose Planning -> Projects.
- Select the project you want, then click the Cards tab at the top of the screen.
- Check the card or cards to move.
- Click the Move card to another project icon.

- In the Move cards window, choose the destination project in the Select project dropdown. Only projects whose status is Draft, On hold or Open are offered; the current project is not listed.

- Click Move.
You can also move a card from the card itself. In the Cards tab, click the card name to open it, then click the Move card to another project icon at the top of the card. The rest is identical: only that one card is moved.

Move sales order cards #
A Sales order card is linked to a sales order line. When you move such a card, its sales order line follows the card and is attached to the destination project’s sales order. The move follows the same steps as above, with the following rules. For more information on project and card types, see the Project and card types page.
Cards that can be moved #
A sales order card cannot be moved in the following cases:
- The selection contains both Sales order cards and Manufacturing order cards. Select only sales order cards, or only manufacturing order cards.
- The card has a parent card or child cards. This rule applies to the sales order card itself, whether it is checked directly or carried along by the move of its parent card.
- Its sales order line is already invoiced or already planned on a shipment.
Note: if the Force reporting tag on sales orders or Force reporting tag on cards configuration is enabled, a sales order card with no reporting tag cannot be moved. For more information, see the Force reporting tag on cards and Force reporting tag on sales orders sections of the Accounting configurations page.
Destination projects #
When the selection contains a sales order card, only Sales and Standard projects are offered as destinations. Where the sales order line is attached then depends on the destination project’s active sales orders, that is, those that are neither canceled nor closed.
| Destination project | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Sales | The line is attached to the project’s sales order. If that sales order is canceled or closed, the move is refused. |
| Standard with exactly one active sales order | The line is attached to that sales order. |
| Standard with several active sales orders | The move is refused. Choose another destination project. |
| Standard with no active sales order | A sales order in Draft status is created on the destination project for that project’s customer, and the line is attached to it. If no customer is set on the project, the move is refused. |
Effect on the sales order line #
After the move:
- The line keeps its Unit price.
- The line’s currency and tax become those of the destination sales order.
- Both the source and the destination sales orders are recomputed. The source sales order is kept, even if it has no line left.
Move result #
A notification informs you of the result.
- If every card was moved, the notification confirms that the move is completed.
- If at least one card was refused, a single error notification is shown. The accepted cards are still moved; the refused cards stay in the original project.
- For a single card, the notification states the reason for the refusal.
- For several cards, the notification states the number of cards moved out of the total number of cards to move. Click Details to see the list of refused cards, with each card’s name, number and the reason for its refusal.
