A tool is an inventory item with lifecycle tracking: usage counters, maintenance and active\/inactive status. Tools are created from Tool<\/strong> type items and remain linked to their inventory throughout their existence.<\/p>\n

Tools are found in Equipments<\/strong> -> Tools<\/strong>. To configure a Tool type item, see the Tool tab<\/em><\/a> page.<\/p>\n

Create a tool<\/h2>\n

To create a tool:<\/p>\n

  1. Navigate to Equipments<\/strong> -> Tools<\/strong>.

  2. Click Create<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Select the item. Only Tool<\/strong> type items are available.<\/li>\n
  4. Fill in the required fields. The status is set to In inventory<\/strong> and cannot be changed.<\/li>\n
  5. Click Add<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The tool title is automatically generated from the item\u2019s number generator. If the Quantity to create<\/strong> is greater than 1, multiple tools are created with sequential titles.<\/p>\n

    The values configured in the item\u2019s Tool<\/strong> tab (maximum number of uses, hourly rate, equipments and steps) are automatically applied to the created tools.<\/p>\n

    Tool form<\/h2>\n

    The tool form contains two tabs: Overview<\/strong> and History<\/strong>. The overview groups the tool fields, usage counters and maintenance calendar.<\/p>\n

    The following fields are specific to tools:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
    Hourly cost<\/strong><\/td>\nRate used to calculate the tool cost in the production recipe. Inherited from the item at creation, editable afterwards.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Maximum usage count<\/strong><\/td>\nMaintenance warning threshold. When the tool\u2019s number of uses reaches this value, the Remaining usage count<\/strong>\u00a0column in the grid displays zero. This threshold is informational and does not prevent the tool from being used.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Inventory<\/strong><\/td>\nLink to the inventory associated with the tool. Click Open inventory<\/strong> to access the inventory record.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    External tool tag<\/strong><\/td>\nExternal identifier used for tool scanning on the operations board.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Equipments<\/strong><\/td>\nEquipments associated with the tool. Inherited from the item at creation, editable afterwards.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Steps<\/strong><\/td>\nProduction steps associated with the tool. Inherited from the item at creation, editable afterwards.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    IIoT Module<\/strong><\/td>\nIIoT module associated with the tool, if applicable.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    The other fields (Name, PIN, Responsible, Site, Manufacturer, Model, Serial number, Storage location, Current location, Weight, Volume) are common to inventories. See the inventory documentation<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n
