The custom unit allows purchasing an item in a unit different from its stock unit. This page describes how to apply or edit it on a purchase order line.<\/p>\n

To set a default custom unit on an item, see the\u00a0Custom unit<\/strong>\u00a0section of the\u00a0Purchase tab<\/a>\u00a0page.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>: it is impossible to apply a custom unit if the purchase order is no longer in\u00a0Draft<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Apply a custom unit to a line<\/h2>\n

Note<\/strong>: if the item or the vendor has a default custom unit defined, it is applied automatically to the line. If both are defined, the vendor’s custom unit takes priority. Skip to the\u00a0Edit the custom unit of a line<\/a>\u00a0section to adjust the values.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

  1. From the menu on the left, choose\u00a0Purchases -> Purchase orders<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Open the desired purchase order, then click\u00a0Edit<\/strong>\u00a0in the top right.

  3. Select the desired item line, click\u00a0More actions -> Apply a custom unit<\/strong>.

  4. In the window, fill in the fields:\n
      \n
    1. Unit<\/strong>: name of the unit (e.g. “box”).<\/li>\n
    2. Format<\/strong>: conversion factor to the stock unit (e.g. 150 for a 150-unit box).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    3. Click\u00a0Confirm<\/strong>.\n

      Edit the custom unit of a line<\/h2>\n

      As long as the purchase order is in\u00a0Draft<\/strong>\u00a0and the line is not associated with a bill, you can edit the values of the custom unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
      Edit the format<\/td>\nEdit the value directly in the line item. The stock quantity and unit price are recalculated automatically.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Edit the unit<\/td>\nClick\u00a0More actions<\/strong>\u00a0on the top right of the line, then select Apply a custom unit<\/strong>\u00a0to reopen the window.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

      Custom unit display<\/h2>\n

      When a custom unit is applied to a line, it appears:<\/p>\n

      • In the purchase order item grid (quantity and price in the custom unit).<\/li>\n
      • In the line item.<\/li>\n
      • On the purchase order PDF.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
