The General<\/strong> tab gathers an item’s basic information: identification, classification, units of measure and compliance data. It is the tab displayed by default when opening an item.<\/p>\n

Three toggles \u2014 Sold<\/strong>, Manufactured<\/strong> and Purchased<\/strong> \u2014 control the display of the Sale<\/strong>, Production<\/strong> and Purchase<\/strong> tabs (see the Main information<\/a> section).<\/p>\n

Main information<\/h2>\n

This section gathers the item’s basic identification, its type, its units of measure and the toggles that determine its uses.<\/p>\n

Field<\/th>\nDescription<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n
Group<\/strong><\/td>\nLinks the item to an item group. When a group is selected, several fields are defined by the group and locked in the item record. See the Item groups<\/a> page.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Description (French)<\/strong><\/td>\nItem’s main description (max. 200 characters). Used by default in documents (sales orders, purchase orders) when no specific description is entered there.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Description (English)<\/strong><\/td>\nItem’s description in the secondary language (max. 200 characters).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Item type<\/strong><\/td>\nNature of the item: Good<\/strong>, Service<\/strong>, Custom service<\/strong> or Tool<\/strong>. The type is chosen when the item is created and cannot be changed afterwards. The Tool<\/strong> type displays the Tool<\/strong> tab (see the Tool tab<\/a> page).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Inventory management type<\/strong><\/td>\nDetermines how stock is tracked: Quantity and value<\/strong>, Quantity only<\/strong> or Not managed<\/strong>. Chosen when the item is created. See the Inventory management<\/a> page.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Unit of measure<\/strong><\/td>\nThe item’s measure type (Standard<\/strong>, Weight<\/strong>, Length<\/strong>, Surface<\/strong> or Volume<\/strong>) and its corresponding unit.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Unit weight<\/strong><\/td>\nWeight of one unit of the item. Used in particular for weight-based purchasing.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Unit surface<\/strong><\/td>\nSurface of one unit of the item.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Unit volume<\/strong><\/td>\nVolume of one unit of the item.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Item status<\/strong><\/td>\nIndicates whether the item is Active<\/strong> or Inactive<\/strong>. An inactive item can no longer be selected on new transactions but remains on existing ones.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Item image<\/strong><\/td>\nClick the image area or drop a file onto it to associate an image with the item (JPG, PNG, GIF or BMP).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Sold<\/strong><\/td>\nIndicates that the item can be sold and displays the Sale<\/strong> tab (see the Sale tab<\/a> page).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Manufactured<\/strong><\/td>\nIndicates that the item is manufactured and displays the Production<\/strong> tab (see the Production tab<\/a> page).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Purchased<\/strong><\/td>\nIndicates that the item is purchased and displays the Purchase<\/strong> tab (see the Purchase tab<\/a> page).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Note: the Unit weight<\/strong>, Unit surface<\/strong> and Unit volume<\/strong> fields appear depending on the unit of measure. The field matching the selected measure type is not displayed \u2014 for example, with a Weight<\/strong> unit of measure, the Unit weight<\/strong> field does not appear.<\/p>\n

It is not possible to change the Sold<\/strong>, Manufactured<\/strong> and Purchased<\/strong> toggles if the item is linked to an item group or if it is of the Custom service<\/strong> type.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Codes and attributes<\/h2>\n

This section contains the item’s identification codes and, for configurable items, its attributes.<\/p>\n

EAN<\/strong><\/td>\nInternational Article Number: a unique 13-digit number.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Attribute<\/strong><\/td>\nFor a configurable item, the attribute that characterizes its variants.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Attribute option<\/strong><\/td>\nFor a configurable item, the attribute option that characterizes the variant.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Note: for a configurable item, the Create a variant<\/strong> and Sync variants<\/strong> buttons are added to this section. The Attribute<\/strong> and Attribute option<\/strong> are then used to define the variants.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Classification and additional information<\/h2>\n

This section classifies the item (material, compliance, category) and gathers its reference information.<\/p>\n

Note: the Category<\/strong>, Material<\/strong>, Raw<\/strong> and Treatment<\/strong> lists can be enriched with a new value using the +<\/strong> button. The Country of origin<\/strong>, HS code<\/strong> and UN number<\/strong> values are defined in the Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Note: for a configurable item, the Raw part<\/strong> field is added to this section.
