What is it ?

Overproduction means producing too much or too quickly versus customer demand (internal / external).

 

Examples:

Unstable process, long assembly change, poor planning, poor use of automation, “just in case” logic, poor management of obsolescence, overly productive equipment, maintenance program with faults, etc.

Pro tip :

If you have a waste to attack first, it is without contradiction the OVERPRODUCTION!

 

Did you know…

OVERPRODUCTION is the worst of all wastes! OVERPRODUCTION most of the time leads to other wastes such as INVENTORY, MOVEMENTS, TRANSPORT, WAITING and often hides DEFECTS.
